The gnarled tree loomed like an ancient sentinel, its twisted trunk scarred by time and storms. Its branches reached outward in tangled confusion, curling and clutching the air like the tentacles of a restless octopus. Shadows danced beneath it, as if the tree itself still breathed and moved within the hush of the forest.
